About the role

Description

WithersRavenel is recruiting a Landscape Architect Assistant Project Manager to join the expanding Design + Planning Practice Area!  In this role you will leverage your expertise and skills and collaborate with your team to lead and complete landscape architecture projects and tasks.  You will work with and support the project team to develop permit sets, construction documents, reports, engagement documents and participate in public meetings.  This role will focus on Parks and Recreation and Civic Space projects across North Carolina.  


This is a hybrid role working out of our Raleigh, NC office, where employees and supervisors collaborate to establish an in- and out-of-office schedule that “works” for all involved.    


 Responsibilities

  • Produce preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings from technical notes, sketches, and/or other drawings, ensuring they meet Company and industry standards and codes and communicate those to the PM for approval and implementation. 
  • Assist PM to manage tasks and project schedules for project team members and subconsultants to meet Client expectations.? 
  • Manage small projects per PM delegation, oversee and delegate tasks, and engage in design of projects; keep PM abreast of project progress 
  • Schedule and participate in project meetings 
  • Prepare agreements including scope, schedule, work plan, fees, and terms and conditions with PM direction and approval 
  • Monitor and report the financial performance of projects to PM and proactively communicate changes in scope and schedules to PM 
  • Assist PM in the oversight production and approval of design, construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.? 
  • Use various applications to generate hand drawings, sketches, CAD design, report writing, document layout or other deliverables based on specific project requirements. 
  • Responsible for cultivation of existing relations including periodic client meetings, proposal and budget development and obtaining feedback in coordination with the PM. 

 *  This role will require occasional travel in state and attendance at engagement events after hours and/or on weekends.

Requirements

Required qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or combination of a similar degree with relevant experience.? 
  • Licensed/Registered Landscape Architect in the state of North Carolina or ability to seek reciprocity. Minimum 1 year as a licensed landscape architect. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in design and drafting LA projects including residential, commercial, and municipal site development.? 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LA practices including preparation of construction documents and technical specifications.? 
  • Proficient skill and experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Suite.? 
  • Working knowledge of Sketchup.? 
  • A team player that is committed to a collaborative design process.? 
  • Ability to manage tasks and time to maintain project schedules.? 
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Proven track record of fostering existing client relationships.  

Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Knowledge and experience with federal, state, and local codes and permitting requirements.? 
  • Exceptional hand graphics, sketching ability.? 
  • Experience with the design of site lighting, producing lighting plans, and working with lighting software.? 
  • Experience with Lumion and/or Revit.? 
  • Experience/relationships with medical office, office, mixed-use, multifamily, campus and educational design and/or parks and recreation.?
