RegularThe Security Project Manager is responsible for designing and facilitating projects on behalf of RAND’s Security & Classified Operations department. These projects aim to enhance Security & Classified Operations continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of industrial and intelligence security, in particular 32 CFR 117, SEAD 3 reporting requirements, and Intelligence Community Directives, international travel, and security education. The Security Project Manager must engage and partner with different groups across RAND and be the principal author on project deliverables, including policies and procedures, internal correspondence, training resources, and briefings. The Security Project Manager will acquire knowledge in, and be expected to speak to, several different areas of industrial and intelligence security. In addition, this role will serve as point for department communications, both with the department and across the organization, to include content management for the RAND intranet.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, energetic, and display enthusiasm for pursuing new projects. They will also demonstrate intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn about the nuanced aspects of industrial security. This individual should be a team player, serving as a representative for Security & Classified Operations across the organization. This role will report to the Executive Director, Security & Classified Operations and Chief Security Officer.
Duties
- Identify, design, lead, and facilitate continuous improvement projects on behalf of Security & Classified Operations and the Executive Director, Security & Classified Operations and Chief Security Officer while maintaining compliance with federal regulations by researching applicable changing government laws (32 CFR), executive orders and requirements and updating RAND-wide policies and procedures
- Coordinate with other program teams to develop strategies to enforce security requirements and address identified vulnerabilities
- Communicate with subject matter experts, interdepartmental counterparts, government stakeholders, and external contacts to facilitate projects and align their priorities with RAND’s mission and core values.
- Organize internal meetings with subject matter experts, departmental leadership, and other stakeholders, including scheduling, distributing reference materials, note-taking, and following up with next steps
- Research federal regulation related to topics of industrial security in order to determine their impact on current and future projects
- Engage in special projects as assigned by the Executive Director, Security & Classified Operations and Chief Security Officer
- Manage the corporate-wide Security & Classified Operations Education and Training Program in compliance with the 32 CFR and SEAD 3 to include communications and report creation
- Author departmental and corporate policies and procedures aimed to enhance RAND’s security posture
- Direct internal communications on behalf of Security & Classified Operations, including RAND Items articles, info share briefings, and targeted emails, as well as managing the Security & Classified Operations Viva Engage community
- Draft and revise content for RAND intranet in coordination with other Security & Classified Operations intranet administrators
- Train Security & Classified Operations and RAND staff on new security policies and procedures
- Supports the Executive Director, Security & Classified Operations and Chief Security Officer with RAND’s international business operations to include liaison with the Department of State Overseas Advisory Council.
- Participate in Strategic Planning meetings in coordination with Security & Classified Operations leadership to incorporate relevant projects into the strategic initiatives.
- Prepare agendas and minutes for biweekly Security & Classified Operations All Hands meetings
Basic Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with RAND leadership and stakeholders
- Highly organized with ability to independently prioritize competing deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated strong leadership and project management skills and the ability to secure results through others
- Experience with training, teaching, or mentoring others
- Proven experience managing stakeholder relationships
- Ability to discreetly handle sensitive and classified information
- Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn new computer applications
