Position Summary
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of all marketing efforts of the Ryan Center, Boss Ice Arena, and their events including: advertising, media buying, interactive media, ticketing analysis, promotions, public relations and grassroots efforts while creating and maintaining relationships with media and promotional partners.
This role pays an annual salary of $44,000-$45,000

About the Venue
A state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility, the Thomas M. Ryan Center, located on the University of Rhode Island campus in scenic South County, opened its doors in June 2002. Home to URI Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs, the Ryan Center, Boss Ice Arena, also features the URI football teams' locker room, along with athletic department offices, training rooms, players' lounges and a souvenir store. The venue seats 8,000 for basketball, and over 6,300 for concerts, family shows, lectures and other community events.The Ryan Center was designed and built to meet all ADA specifications to accommodate our guests with disabilities. Located in Kingston, the Center draws on an audience of over 1.4 million people within a 40-mile radius.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and implementation of marketing and group sales ticketing campaigns for various concerts, family shows and community programs to maximize event awareness and drive revenue.
- Oversee and manage the email subscriber database for the Ryan Center and URI Athletics including database acquisition initiatives and creating and distributing ticket-driving newsletters/emails.
- Manage all day-to-day responsibilities while developing a comprehensive strategy and implementing ticket sales-driven promotions across social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube as well as develop key marketing campaigns on other digital platforms for the Ryan Center and URI Athletics to drive revenue.
- Pitch stories, write press releases, create public relations events, generate media hits, implement media drops and build relationships with local media and outlying markets.
- Serve as liaison between media and show promoter or publicist to achieve PR goals.
- Manage internal and external public relations such as event announcements, marquee and website content updates, reporting to trade publications, as well as representing the building as a point person for all PR-related activity.
- Oversee the implementation of the marketing plan for events put together by the Marketing Department to drive revenue, including media buying, trade, public relations, grassroots, group sales, third party relationships, and community events, etc.
- Work closely with the Associate Athletics Director of Marketing and Director of Marketing for URI Athletics to manage all Ryan Center and URI Athletics media buying to have one voice and joint buying power with media partners.
- Prepare written letters of agreements including negotiating terms.
- Build and maintain relationships with all trade media outlets.
- Lead the department in third party retail efforts including relationship building, contract execution, and idea generation.
- Create and maintain detailed media budgets, settlement documents and recap summaries for facility events.
- Oversee all grassroots efforts including poster & flyer distribution, community appearances and overall expansion of marketing campaigns to maximize event of facility awareness and exposure.
- Establish and maintain relationships with philanthropic community organizations that foster lasting partnerships while driving marketing and sales efforts.
- Manage the creation of all design promotional materials such as flyers, posters, yard signs, banners, door hangers, etc. for select events at the venue.
- Coordinate and manage on-site event activities including, but not limited to: pre-event or on-site promotions, meet and greets, media requests and social media promotions as required.
