Position Overview

The Lead Barista serves as a role model to their teammates and will take on a significant responsibility for training team members. This role will fulfill all aspects of Revive Café in accordance with the vision and mission of Exact Sciences. The Lead Barista will do so by not only educating team members, but also customers by presenting and explaining the drink menu, answering questions, and providing superior customer service.

Shift:

Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Follow Exact Sciences standards for beverage/food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation.
• Collaborate with leaders and team baristas to give the best customer service and speed of service processes possible.
• Prepare and sell coffee/tea drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, latte, and cappuccino, matcha, etc.
• Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep costs within forecasted range.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Enhance Revive Café by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value. 
• Provide and lead trainings to colleagues on job related topics to include, but not limited to, mechanics of equipment, maintenance, beverage construction, time, temperature, and waste processes.
• Lead station specific tasks and have an introduction in beverage recipe writing.
• Offer positive and/or constructive feedback to team members on the quality and consistency of drink preparation, food preparation, cleanliness, professionalism, and customer service.
• Mentor and provide indirect leadership to Revive Café staff.
• Comply with sanitation/safety standards within Food services and ensure all café personnel follow safety/sanitation standards.

• Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a POS computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
• Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
• Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
• Ability to work seated for approximately 10% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for approximately 10% of a typical working day.
• Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
• Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience working in food service, hospitality management, or related field.
• 1+ years of indirect leadership experience.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Serve Safe Certification within 90 days of hire and maintain throughout employment in position.
• Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Salary Range:

$47,000.00 - $83,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
