Description

CMC Nashville is a semester-long program located in Brentwood, TN., which prepares college-age students for careers in the live event industry, challenging them to live out their faith as Christ-followers. Students choose from one of four tracks (Artist, Business, Technical and Worship Creative Arts) and experience an education that is practical, realworld and led by working professionals. The role of the Director of Student Life is to create and maintain a healthy and supportive environment for all students by mediating conflict, planning non-music related events outside of the CMC space and encouraging students in their spiritual and soft skill growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES General: 

• Contribute to GU/CMC’s mission: Christ-centered liberal arts higher education transforming students for lives of character and service. Faculty contribute to the University's mission beyond the classroom through activities such as committee/task force/team work, community development, or similar activities internally and externally, which enhance and advance exemplary academics, personal spiritual growth, and engagement with the world. 
• Teach assigned undergraduate courses in accord with all standard policies and procedures using a variety of best-practice teaching and learning strategies, including classroom and online technology, to enhance instruction. 
• Develop, implement, and evaluate course curriculum, teaching-learning practices, and assess student learning outcomes. 
• Engage students; be available to individual students for questions, coursework, consultations, and informal mentoring. 
• Demonstrate a proven track record and ongoing experience in their field. 
• Provide strategic thinking in fulfilling the goals of GU/CMC in support of the University Strategic Priorities as well as contribute effectively to the University community, external partners, and general audiences. Strong participation in faculty, committee, or other meetings within the Contemporary Music Center is an integral part of this position. 
• Add to the development of a Christ-centered community of learners and scholars. Continue to grow in personal commitment to and effectiveness in the integration of Christian faith and learning and provide effective servant leadership among faculty, staff, students, and administrators. 
• Participate in extracurricular activities to support and encourage students, colleagues, and staff. 
• Assist the CMC director with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES Specific: 

Student Life 

• Plan residence events that foster a healthy spiritual and social atmosphere 
• Mentor students in the area of personal adjustment, intervene in crisis situations, and assist in discipline matters. 
• Communicate regularly with the program director about student issues. 
• Maintain office hours for one-on-one sessions with students 
• Remain available and visible to students; on-call daily during the fall and spring semesters. 
• Plan and facilitate weekly adulting courses 
• Plan and facilitate weekly community meals (Friday, 12:00pm) 
• Plan and facilitate weekly community meeting (Friday, 1:00pm) 
• Plan and facilitate orientation meals and end of the semester banquet  

Housing 

• Act as Apartment Housing Liaison, managing maintenance requests 
• Track and replenish inventory of student apartment furnishing  

Summer Programming Coordinator 

• Assist with internship application evaluation and placement 
• Manage apartment assignments 
• Coordinate and lead weekly mentoring sessions with interns - other faculty will participate  

Other Duties: 

• Act as Support staff during Tour preparation and Travel with end-of-semester Road Tour (End of November and End of April) 
• Accompany students to all emergency room visits 
• Coordinate transportation for student arrivals and departures • Other Duties as assigned
