Job Responsibilities and Requirements
The Actuarial Student performs varied actuarial functions for the fixed and indexed annuity lines of business, with an emphasis on developing and maintaining actuarial models for liability valuation, cash flow testing, and asset-liability management. Other functions include supervised assistance with model testing and documentation, as well as process improvement and automation using Alteryx.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain annuity liability models in FIS Prophet, to support the calculation of reserves under IFRS.
- Assist in the monthly valuation of fixed and indexed annuities for Stat and GAAP.
- Assist in the quarterly asset-liability management process.
- Assist in the annual cash flow testing and year-end reporting process.
- Develop workflows using Alteryx to improve data processes related to the maintenance of actuarial models.
- Perform analyses of annuity persistency used to develop and validate model assumptions.
- Provide support for management inquiries and audit requests.
- Continuous progress on actuarial exams.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or other programs focused on quantitative analysis.
- Completion of 1-3 Society of Actuaries exams.
- Skilled in spreadsheet and database software usage, such as Excel, Access, and Alteryx.
- Familiarity with actuarial modeling software and annuity products, preferred.
- Ability to consolidate large amounts of data to help identify key findings.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
