Job Description
You will join our Southeast Advanced Manufacturing Civil, Structural and Architectural department.
As our new Sr. Structural Engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team of industrial building structure design professionals who execute interesting and diverse projects in the industrial and manufacturing sector. Our team is at the forefront of helping clients achieve their built environment goals emphasizing sustainability concepts. You will have opportunities to collaborate with design and construction professionals in all the Ramboll business units and organizations in the Americas and globally including Environment & Health, Water, and Advanced Manufacturing.
The Senior Engineer will perform complex assignments requiring the application of advanced engineering techniques for an entire project or selected segments of a complete project. The individual must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying advanced engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make major design decisions and direct the entire design team.'
Your core responsibilities will be:
- Perform structural analysis and design to ensure that buildings and other structures meet safety and performance requirements.
- Use specialized software to model and analyze the behavior of structures under various loads, including gravity, wind, seismic, and temperature effects.
- Interpret and apply local, national, and international building codes and standards to ensure that designs comply with legal and safety requirements.
- Stay updated on changes and revisions to building codes and standards.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications that accurately convey the structural requirements to industry partners, fabricators, builders, and contractors.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural elements into overall project plans.
- Select appropriate construction materials (e.g., concrete, steel, masonry) based on structural requirements, cost considerations, and environmental factors. Consider the durability and sustainability of materials in the design process.
- Directly communicate with internal stakeholders (e.g., project manager, subject matter expert, project owner) and external stakeholders (e.g., vendors, subcontractors, contractors).
- Conduct site visits to obtain field information or observe construction progress, verify that existing and new construction adheres to design specifications, and address any structural issues that may arise during these observations.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that the finished structure meets design standards.
- Innovate and apply new technologies and materials to optimize structural designs and improve efficiency.
- Resolve complex engineering problems that may arise during the design or construction process.
- Coordinate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely project completion.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in structural engineering through continuous learning and professional development.
- Incorporate environmentally friendly design principles, such as energy-efficient structural solutions and sustainable materials, into projects when applicable.
- Uphold ethical standards and professional conduct in all aspects of work.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including ethical considerations for public safety.
