About the role

Nerdy is searching for a Director of Internal Audit and Process Compliance to join our team, based out of our corporate office in St. Louis, Missouri. At Nerdy, we're transforming the future of learning through rigorous operational excellence and meticulous process compliance. As the Director, Internal Audit and Process Compliance, you will serve as the essential centralized auditor, proactively ensuring critical operational tasks and processes across our vertically integrated platform consistently execute without fail. Reporting to the Corporate Vice President & Controller in the Office of the CFO, you will adopt a highly methodical, assertive auditing approach combined with proactive, impactful process improvements to protect and enhance our operational integrity. Your success will directly contribute to minimizing risk, reducing costly errors, and ultimately improving the learner experience through unwavering accountability.

This role reports to the Corporate Vice President & Controller in the Office of the CFO, aligning with their disciplined approach to compliance assurance and proactive process excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required) in Business, Finance, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. Advanced degree (preferred) such as an MBA or Master’s in Operations Management, Finance, or related fields.
  • Experience: Proven success in auditing, compliance management, risk management, or internal controls within operationally complex environments.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with auditing software, data analytics platforms, and automated monitoring tools to efficiently scale auditing functions.
  • Analytical Rigor: Strong ability to interpret complex data and translate it into precise, actionable recommendations.
  • Assertive Communication: Skilled in assertive communication, capable of maintaining accountability and influencing diverse operational teams.
  • Process Mastery: Meticulous in documenting, auditing, and refining complex processes to prevent costly operational breakdowns.
  • Auditing and Compliance Experience (Preferred): Professional certification or significant experience in internal audit, compliance, or risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the centralized accountability mechanism, ensuring critical business processes are consistently executed across finance, operations, implementation, and other teams.
  • Immediately identify, document, escalate, and drive resolution of deviations or failures in operational processes, ensuring swift corrective action.
