The Team

The Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub - Jordan River team is a multi-disciplinary, child and family-centred service supporting the mental health, wellbeing and development of children aged 0 to 12 years experiencing emotional, relational and behavioural challenges, and their families and carers. Operationally and clinically governed by Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), the team provides coordinated, evidence-based care, including assessment, therapeutic intervention, family support and access to specialist health professionals. Working collaboratively with families, communities and partner agencies, the team delivers timely, integrated support to improve outcomes for children and strengthen community mental health and wellbeing.

The Role

  • Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through the provision of assessment, case management, evidence-based group intervention and individual therapies, including specialised therapies for clients and their families or carers.
  • Provide evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for clients experiencing emergent mental health challenges, and parent/care-giver-child relationship difficulties.
  • Function as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

You will need

  • Extensive experience in and demonstrated specialist level/clinical knowledge of mental health nursing in a clinical area directly applicable to the CAMHS area, including the ability to provide appropriate assessment of mental health problems.
  • Proven ability to provide a range of assessments and therapeutic interventions relevant to children and families accessing services and the ability to acquire further expertise in this area.
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge and skills in relation to liaison and consultation with other services and agencies in the context of optimising effective and efficient service provision, advice and training and continuity of care.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2027.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Working with Children Registration

  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role
  • Current Driver’s Licence
