About the Job
- The Director of Inbound Logistics is responsible for developing and executing the strategy and operations for the transportation, and trade compliance related activities of goods coming from global origins to Europe. The primary objectives of this role are to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce transportation costs, ensure on-time delivery, ensure compliance and enhance overall customer satisfaction.
- Significantly contributes to the organization's goals and strategies through strategic supply chain management, cost optimization, operational excellence, customer satisfaction enhancement, and risk management within the European supply chain network.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for a specific function or business unit within the organization.
- Develop and execute long-term plans and initiatives to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Manage budgets, resources, and performance metrics, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement among team members.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and vendors to support business objectives.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Represent the department or business unit in meetings, presentations, and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement the strategic roadmap for inbound logistics operations, aligned with the organization's overall supply chain strategy and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to optimize inbound logistics processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency while meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including procurement, planning, transportation, and warehousing teams, to align inbound logistics strategies with sourcing and inventory management initiatives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with global suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely and reliable inbound shipments.
- Facilitate negotiations on contracts, rates, and service level agreements with logistics and trade partners to optimize transportation costs and service quality.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions to address any issues or deviations from agreed-upon standards.
- Oversee the day-to-day execution of inbound logistics operations, including transportation planning, freight booking, customs clearance, and warehousing coordination activities.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize lead times.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and import/export laws governing inbound shipments.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends affecting inbound logistics operations and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of inbound logistics and trade compliance professionals, providing guidance, support, and coaching to drive engagement, performance and career growth.

About You
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in inbound logistics, supply chain management, or transportation, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of international transportation modes, freight forwarding, customs clearance procedures, and import/export regulations into EU.
