UNIV - Staff Scientist II - Pharmacology and Immunology
Medical University of South CarolinaAbout the role
Job Description Summary
The Mass Spectrometry Facility, part of the I3 Omics Umbrella Core at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), is seeking an experienced and self-driven proteomics expert to join our highly collaborative and supportive team. This Senior Scientist (SSII) position will assist in develop of a multi-omic platform for basic and translational research projects for MUSC investigators and external researchers. This will include developing state-of-the-art proteomic capabilities and facilitating the establishment of multi-omic platform including proteomics and metabolomics. Substantial experience in LC-MS/MS (Orbitrap & Astral MS)-based proteomic data acquisition, data processing, statistical and bioinformatic evaluation is required. Development of customized and/or state-of-the-art biochemical methods for sample preparation (for post-translational modifications, plasma proteomics, TMT-based proteomics, nDIA) is essential. Evaluation and quality assessment of proteomic workflows to ensure high quality data is necessary. Excellent communication skills are required for working with investigators in the areas of cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, and digestive and liver disease. Instrumentation in the Mass Spectrometry Facility includes a Thermo Scientific Easy1200 nLC-Orbitrap Fusion Lumos ETD/UVPD MS, Easy1200 nLC Exploris 480 MS, Vanquish Neo LC-Orbitrap Astral Zoom MS, Vanquish HPLC, Kingfisher Apex.Entity
