Position Overview 

The Diligent Market Intelligence Editorial Team is looking for a Data Journalist/Data Science intern to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data journalism and data science, contribute to meaningful projects, and learn from experienced professionals. You will collaborate with various departments to streamline workflows, support processes, and implement best practices. Excellent communication skills and the ability to set and manage expectations are key to success in this role. This individual thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment that will continue to scale and drive automation and efficiencies. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Help streamline our editorial workflow by identifying areas where AI and automation can assist in reviewing regulatory filings or Excel spreadsheets. 

• Utilize AI to identify and extract key financial data and generate text-based reports. 

• Interview editorial team members to understand current research processes and identify bottlenecks. 

 

Qualifications and Competencies 

• Familiarity with AI and data analysis. 

• Interest in the media business and financial markets is a plus. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Excellent communication and training skills to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Data Journalism, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 

Project Plan 

Goals: 

• Identify and accomplish specific goals/milestones. 

• Develop processes, including AI prompts or instructions, for generating research-heavy articles with improved efficiency and accuracy. 

• Increase the speed and accuracy of reports. 

Scope of Work: 

• Use AI to pull key data from multiple sources to create reports. 

• Utilize AI  to identify changes in stock ownership. 

• Employ AI to identify changes in voting policies. 

End of Summer Project: 

• Produce a report on how AI can assist in the research for news stories and reports. 
• Present tools, outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations

 

• Compensation: $20/hour
