R&D Engineer, Chemical Processes and SAFEC Team
Sumitomo SHI FWAbout the role
Sumitomo SHI FW is looking for a
R&D ENGINEER in Chemical Processes and SAFEC team
To join our Global Technology and R&D team working in the area of applied chemistry in:
• Energy Generation via thermal conversion of biomass and waste fuels, based on primarily fluidized bed technologies, and
• Circular Carbon including Carbon Capture and Gasification technologies.
Responsibilities:
In this role your responsibilities include:
1. Characterization of feedstocks, products, and phenomena in energy generation and decarbonization solutions:
a. Interpretation and use of physico-chemical analyses results, acquired from commercial laboratories and internal databases. Examples are analyses of fuels, additives and ash streams.
b. Analyses of solid samples in SFW laboratory, including optical microscopy, XRF, SEM/EDX. Solids are typically ash streams and deposits.
c. Describing products and phenomena occurring in studied process and deriving conclusions and/or solutions. Examples are process conditions leading to deposit formation in part of a thermal conversion unit, and how to minimize or prevent it.
2. Planning and execution of laboratory, pilot, or field tests aimed at evaluating existing, or developing innovative solutions for decarbonizing the energy and carbon-intensive industries
a. Using equipment’s such as fouling and corrosion probing, gas and emission measurements, process temperature and pressure measurements.
3. Effective dissemination of research findings internally (R&D reports, presentations, engineering manuals, etc.), and externally (conference publications, etc.).
What do we expect from you?
- Candidates should have at least Master Degree in energy/environmental technology/chemistry/chemical engineering,
