OVERVIEW
Washington Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist with a strong Human Resources (HR) background. This pivotal role combines financial expertise with HR knowledge to ensure accurate financial processing and employee support. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare or a related field, with a proven ability to manage complex payroll systems and support HR functions, contributing to the seamless operation of the medical center. Provides innovative leadership and effective planning to maximize human and financial goals of the hospital and the hospital’s contribution to the overall corporation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Payroll Duties:
1. Process and manage all aspects of accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely payment to vendors.
2. Maintain payroll systems, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
3. Calculate and process payroll for hospital employees, including salaries, overtime, and benefits deductions.
4. Reconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and deductions to ensure accuracy.
5. Prepare and distribute financial and payroll reports to management as needed.
6. Address and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and effectively.
7. Assist with audits related to payroll and accounts payable, and programs within the facility.
Human Resources Duties:
1. Support recruitment processes, onboarding, and employee orientation.
2. Assist with maintaining personnel records and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations.
3. Collaborate with HR to administer employee benefits, resolve payroll-related inquiries, and manage time-off requests.
4. Provide expertise on wage and hour compliance, benefits administration, and labor laws.
5. Conduct training for staff on payroll systems and other HR-related processes.
6. Serve as a resource for employees on HR policies, payroll concerns, and benefits enrollment.
RESPONSIBILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
1. Directs overall operational management through assessment of hospital’s operations and interaction with staff and customers to enhance efficiency and quality of service. Responsible for the timely completion of employee evaluations and the monthly HR Reports.
2. Ensures that the hospital’s policies and procedures are followed consistently throughout the hospital. Monitors all workers’ comp cases.
3. Facilitates customer satisfaction by communicating and interacting with key internal and external customers to identify opportunities for improvement resulting in enhanced service and customer satisfaction.
4. Coordinates, directs, and administers a program relative to employee recruitment, screening, training, promotion, and overall employer-employee relationships.
5. Perform any other duties that may be necessary for the operation of the corporation and/or hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable, payroll processing, and human resources.
3. Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and financial management systems.
4. Comprehensive understanding of federal and state labor laws and tax regulations.
5. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
7. Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
