AMG Chicago Ravenswood is a large, dynamic practice located in the heart of Ravenswood, Lakeview, and Lincoln Square areas. We are the Family Medicine Residency practice for Illinois Masonic Hospital, boasting a team of 24 resident physicians and 15 attending physicians and Advance Practice Nurses.
 
Joining our team means you'll be part of a supportive environment with 6 nurses, 20 Medical Assistants (MAs), and 15 Patient Service Representatives (PSRs). The role of a Medical Assistant at our office primarily involves rooming and vialing patients, managing telephone and patient portal messages, and staffing our own lab where comprehensive training is provided.

Our practice, while specializing in Family Medicine, serves a large pediatric population and administers a variety of injections and vaccines. We cater to a wide range of socioeconomically and culturally diverse patients, making every day an enriching experience. Although Spanish is not a requirement, it is a plus as it is our next most utilized language. Additionally, our Medical Assistants play a significant role in Population Health management, supporting positive health outcomes for our patients.
 

Pay Range

$21.45 - $32.20

$2500 sign on bonus for external hires

Major Responsibilities:

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.  
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).  
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.   
• Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.   
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.  
• Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.   
• Cross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant.  
• Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.   
• Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked. 
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Minimum Job Requirements 

Education

IL/WI Divisions: 

• High School Diploma or GED required. 
• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years. 

Certification / License
