Insurance Verification Specialist

Lifeline Medical Center, a large and rapidly growing multi-state mental health organization, is seeking an experienced and highly self-sufficient Insurance Verification Specialist to support our outpatient behavioral health services. This role is fully remote.

Position SummaryThe Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for accurately verifying patient insurance benefits for all outpatient mental health services, including Medication Management, Counseling/Therapy, IOP, MAT, and Spravato (esketamine). This position requires extensive knowledge of mental health eligibility processes across commercial payers, Medicaid, and Medicare plans in multiple states.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience performing insurance verification specifically for outpatient mental health services.

• Strong understanding of mental health benefit structures including copays, deductibles, coinsurance, prior authorizations, and service limitations.

• Ability to verify eligibility for any U.S. state, including multi-state Medicaid plans.

• Must be highly self-sufficient, resourceful, and able to troubleshoot independently.

• Ability to clearly and promptly respond to internal staff questions regarding eligibility, coverage, or benefit discrepancies.

• Strong attention to detail with accurate data-entry skills.

• Must have a HIPAA-compliant workspace, personal computer, printer, and camera for meetings.

• Reliable internet connection and professional communication skills.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Remote position

• Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST

• Collaboration with clinical and administrative teams across multiple states

Key Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility for mental health services across all payer types and states

• Identify and document correct copay, deductible, and coinsurance details

• Communicate timely and accurate benefit information to staff

• Ensure internal systems reflect updated and correct coverage information

• Assist with problem-solving insurance discrepancies or complex eligibility cases
