We are launching a new Apprenticeship Program, specifically under the trade of Toolmaker. Our apprenticeship program has been approved by the CT Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship, which provides an industry recognized, portable credential that certifies completion of the program, distinguishes the apprentice as a master of their craft and makes the apprentice eligible to take any occupational licensing exam. Upon completion of the program, the apprentice receives a nationally recognized Certificate of Completion in the occupation.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) over a four (4) year period in order to satisfy the 8,000-hour apprenticeship program requirements.
Apprentice wages start at a percentage of journeyperson wages (a journeyperson is someone who has completed an apprenticeship or is recognized/classified as a skilled person and possesses a valid card of occupational license when required). An apprentice should progress during training to the journeyperson wage at the completion of the training program.
Apprenticeship training should lead to continuous employment for a veteran who completes the program

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Prepares metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications.
Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments to compute dimensions and determine machining and material or parts required.
Performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions, revising design and/or substituting materials based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered, and problem solves as needed.
Monitors and verifies quality and safety according to Medtronic's standards. Our daily operating hours Monday-Friday are 7:00 am to 3:30 PM with a ½ hour lunch, Tools can be provided along with your own workspace, we do work in a Safety driven environment that is our number one priority.

Qualifications

MUST HAVE - BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

Graduate from a technical school Platt Technical High School, Eli Whitney High School,  Bullard-Havens High School , Wilcox Technical High School, or Emmett O’Brien Technical High School

Nice to Have:

  • Proven track record with technical training assignments.  


Required Knowledge and Experience: Recommended basic job knowledge of production-related systems and procedures.0 years of experience required.
