Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Professional Development, Humanities is responsible for providing strategic leadership of team members, projects, and processes to ensure that Great Minds Humanities professional development staff and partners understand the philosophy, design, and best practices for using Humanities curriculum and products.
This role will contribute to the Humanities professional services vision, including review of professional development content; planning, conducting, and evaluating implementation of in-person and virtual professional services; monitoring and management of team processes and internal/external communication; and collaborating on creation of project/team guidelines and resources.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a skilled leader to contribute to Great Mind’s organizational mission to deliver quality professional learning that ensure all leaders and teachers are prepared to provide students with quality education in English Language Arts.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of Humanities full-time facilitators, providing support and leadership in the following ways:
- Observe and provide feedback to continuously improve effectiveness of professional services.
- Collaborate with direct reports to set and monitor growth of annual and quarterly goals that align with those of the Humanities Success team and larger organization.
- Develop, organize, and lead facilitator training events
- As needed, contribute to the innovation of new professional services offerings and training content to promote the mission of Great Minds.
- Cultivate and maintain a supportive culture in all work environments with an emphasis on trust, collegiality, curiosity, and quality.
- Provide timely communication with the National Director of PD related to risks, feedback, and other matters relevant to Great Minds and its mission.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency with the instructional design and pedagogy of Wit & Wisdom
- 3 years of experience coaching teachers and leaders in a school or district using Wit & Wisdom and/or delivering professional development at a school, district, state, or national level, or serving in another instructional leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver high-quality coaching support in a school or district
- Demonstrated ability to effectively craft and implement comprehensive professional development or coaching plans to meet the needs of teachers and/or school leaders
- The ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech
- Strong organizational habits necessary for successful project management, collective decision making, deadline execution, record keeping
- Ability to make solutions-oriented decisions through flexible thinking in an ambiguous, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Proficiency at both working independently and collaborating as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to manage people and large, complex projects and systems
