The Small Spindle Polishing Technician may be the right opportunity for you!

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.  

Roles and responsibilities

  • Without direct supervision, pitch polish optics to desired specification using spindle polishing machines. Clean, inspect, and test optics using a variety of equipment.  Verify the accuracy of finished product, as well as support processes and product development. 

  • Ability to polish precision optics on conventional spindles.

  • Ability to work safely on fragile, high value optics.

  • Perform blocking and unblocking of parts.

  • Ability to work with pitch, pressing and cutting laps.

  • Perform visual surface inspection of all optical components to ISO standards.

  • Protect and clean components.

  • Measure work-piece for conformance to specifications using various measuring equipment, including but not limited to the Zygo Interferometer.

  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.

  • Follows written and verbal English work instructions that describe the process and the required measurements.

  • Possesses blueprint interpretation skills.

  • Be familiar with using the following measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, and pH meters.

  • Maintain a safe operating environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Education and experience

  • Proven knowledge (5+ Years) of optical spindle polishing.

  • High School or trade school graduate or G.E.D or equivalent experience.

  • Intermediate mathematical skills including use of basic math and geometry.

  • Knowledge of SAP a plus.
