Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Superintendent II at Hamilton County State Fish & Wildlife Area for The Office of Land Management. This position will: operate and maintain heavy equipment such as trucks and trailers in excess of 26,001 pounds with Air Brakes hauling equipment throughout the region when needed; direct and participate in maintenance of site operations while providing guidance and training to staff to meet daily operating needs; prepare, submit, and monitor operating capital improvement budgets and annual plans of work; plan and promote site activities and programs, and serve as the Department's representative for various meetings. Hamilton County State Fish and Wildlife Area, also known as Dolan Lake, is located about 8 miles southeast of McLeansboro off Route 14. It is the perfect place to enjoy nature and the outdoors camping, fishing, horseback riding and hiking.   • Under direction, manages the operation of Hamilton County Conservation Area, serves as full- line supervisor.
  • Directs and participates in the preparation/maintenance of site operations and financial records/reports.
  • Directs and participates in the maintenance of site grounds, facilities, and equipment.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements site audit activities and programs compatible with the natural resource base.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the media and interested groups or individuals.
  • Explains agency policies, rules, and regulations to site visitors and assures compliance with the same.
