Job Overview:

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will provide leadership and management support to staff while overseeing day-to-day operations. You will educate, empower, and inspire the team to grow and develop while teaching best practices and sharing your passion for food and beverage. You will be an operational contributor as well as a proactive problem solver – willing to recommend ideas for the overall success of the team. A successful AGM will bring a strong sense of pride and ownership to the restaurant and be proactive in their understanding of, and input on team development and service standards.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures
  • Supervise and lead the food and beverage team including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
  • Maintain an active presence throughout the restaurant leading daily line-ups, conducting daily walk-throughs, developing team members, and coordinating regular departmental meetings
  • Maintain an awareness of team members' needs by having eyes on all sections of the floor, host stand, bar well, expo, and bussing areas and support all FOH departments as needed
  • Set performance expectations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of new team members; plan, document, implement, and monitor training programs
  • Guide the quality of the guest experience and service execution; create and implement innovations to enhance the guest experience
  • Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction by resolving guest feedback and applying corrective measures as needed
  • Maintain a level of awareness of the outlet’s ambiance including lighting, temperature, decor, and audio levels
  • Oversee reservations to optimize seating and accommodate guest preferences
  • Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and timing of service
  • Monitor staff to ensure properly executed service, positivity, and enthusiasm
  • Manage food and beverage inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling costs to meet budgetary goals
  • Manage budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving measures
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with guests
  • Ensure all food and beverage operations comply with health and safety regulations and standards
  • Review and analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
  • Work closely with event sales to ensure the successful execution of private events
  • Supervise the outlet in the absence of the General Manager
