Summary of Essential Functions for the Position:
Committed to Caring, the Chaplain is a member of the interdisciplinary team and focuses on the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers, and staff, including volunteers. The Chaplain provides pastoral care interventions, including pastoral counseling, which are determined by spiritual assessment, the specific setting and sensitivity to a variety of values, beliefs, and religious orientations. The Chaplain seeks excellence in pastoral care, which requires authentic demeanor, compassion, and skill in dealing with the spiritual dynamics of illness, loss, and death.
Qualifications
Qualifications / Licensure / Certification / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Shift / Coverage Area / Compensation:
- Five years of pastoral experience preferred two (2) year experience as a Chaplain in a health care clinical environment setting preferred.
- Experience with Hospice or Home Health strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of community spiritual resources
- Knowledge and skill in dealing with spiritual dynamics of illness, loss, and death.
- Commitment to professional growth and development
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
- Strong communication skills, both oral and in writing, with excellent interpersonal skills
- Must demonstrate good customer relations skills and a commitment to providing quality service
- Acceptance and ability to demonstrate support the core values and goals of Agency
- Valid drivers license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation
- 100% travel may be required
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED. Bachelors degree required from an accredited institution. A Master of Divinity or equivalent graduate degrees from an accredited (ATS) seminary or theological school required.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Works indoors in patient homes and travels to/from patient homes. Requires minimal physical effort most of the day including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, exposure to temperature and humidity changes and minimal assist in lifting and/or transferring of a 50-pounds. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that will enable senses to function at a level required to meet the essential duties of the position. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability. Be able to tolerate exposure to elements including, but not limited to, odors, blood, body fluids and excrements, adverse environmental conditions, and hazardous materials.
