About the role

Everyrealm is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer (Staff) to play an integral part in building and scaling our immersive media and social gaming platforms. This position is onsite at the Everyrealm Headquarters.

Everyrealm is an immersive media company that develops and invests in businesses related to virtual worlds, social video gaming, and the metaverse. Everyrealm is behind popular virtual-community-driven projects such as The Row and Fantasy Islands, as well as the upcoming social video games Narcos: Metaverse and Hometopia. Everyrealm also operates Bedlam, an esports guild and tournament platform.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development teams to implement infrastructure-as-code, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Manage and monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Design and implement high-availability systems and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure security and compliance with industry standards and best practices, including data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Support production incidents and outages, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
  • Manage and maintain the image of corporate laptops to ensure that they are secure and up-to-date with the latest security patches and software.
  • Manage the deployment, configuration, and updates of hardware and software on corporate laptops.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company security policies and standards on corporate laptops.
  • Respond to and resolve laptop-related technical issues, providing tier-2 support when necessary.
  • Perform periodic security audits of corporate laptops to ensure that they are secure and comply with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all corporate laptops and their components.
  • Collaborate with procurement and IT security teams to source and purchase new laptops and accessories.
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for laptop backup, encryption, and remote access solutions.

Requirements


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in platform engineering, systems administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and data storage solutions.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, Bash, or Ruby. We also leverage AWS CDK, so Javascript/Typescript is also useful
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform and AWS CDK.
  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly-available systems and infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working in a DevOps environment.
  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices such as continuous integration and delivery, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions and laptop deployment technologies such as Jumpcloud.
  • Familiarity with laptop backup, encryption, and remote access solutions.
  • Ability to manage and maintain the image of corporate laptops to ensure that they are secure and up-to-date with the latest security patches and software.
  • Experience with managing software deployments and updates on laptops.
  • Understanding of laptop security best practices and ability to enforce compliance with company security policies.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and ability to maintain accurate inventory of all corporate laptops and their components.
  • Experience working with procurement and IT security teams to source and purchase new laptops and accessories.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend solutions for laptop backup, encryption, and remote access solutions.
