Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 12.5%

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 12.5%

These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

About This Job

The FVP, Special Assets Manager assists with management and oversight of the Special Asset portfolio to mitigate credit losses and other risk exposures. The position will help manage and restructure distressed loans which may include loan sales and will be working alongside the Chief Credit Officer and Director of Special Assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently monitor and manage a distressed loan portfolio and any credit assigned to Special Assets  

  • Administer the turnaround or exit of complex credit relationships through proactive management and restructuring efforts that may include various workout options including: liquidation of Borrowers’ assets, loan sales, or potentially providing ongoing financing

  • Proactively monitor deals and assign timely and accurate internal ratings and reporting

  • Assist Chief Credit Officer and Special Assets Management in special projects, as requested

  • Special Assets primary focus is to minimize losses and maximize recoveries

  • Provide strategic direction, transaction execution, and approval for Special Assets-managed credits as applicable

  • Work with Special Assets Team and valuation team members in the management and execution of the Special Assets portfolio

  • Recommendation and/or approval for credit decisions and certain work product involving the Special Assets portfolio

  • Compliance with all policies, processes and procedures to promote a strong governance and controls environment

  • Work proactively, and in a constructive and diplomatic manner, with internal and external stakeholders to advance favorable resolutions on transactions, including direct interaction with borrowers

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external partners, senior management, regulators and other important stakeholders

  • Participate and/or provide leadership on special projects and various priority initiatives

  • Recommend changes to improve existing processes, policies, and procedures to achieve greater efficiency, governance and controls

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 7+ years Credit or related experience preferred

  • Prior Loan Workout or Special Assets experience preferred

  • Prior management experience preferred

  • Strong credit sense and ability to articulate a view, work across a range of credit products, with experience in early problem recognition and crisis resolution skills

  • Capable of thought-leadership with demonstrated experience in prior role(s)

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including an ability to be persuasive and build consensus on complex issues

  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and influence internal partners, creditors, debtors and other stakeholders who may not share similar views

  • Negotiation and influencing skills, particularly with developing effective strategies and directing legal documentation

  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation and listening) and organizational skills; ability to complete multiple priorities in a timely manner

  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring skills with ability to motivate others in a demanding environment

  • Highly analytical but also able to act with urgency, synthesize complex situations and make timely and well-supported recommendations or decisions

  • Team player and effective collaborator

  • Possess high character and personal integrity
