POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Materials Planning Coordinator is responsible for purchasing assigned raw materials and packaging to support DPS requirements. Communicate with plant and division groups as needed to ensure that production needs are met. Maintain the lowest possible inventory levels, without taking unnecessary risks, to ensure compliance with budgeted targets. Communicate plant needs to suppliers, NBS contract creators, and carriers to ensure production needs are met. Maintain accurate records of PO’s, contract balances, e-mails, etc. to ensure traceability.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a feasible production plan within the detailed production scheduling period by shift that takes into consideration available capacity, labor and materials while respecting the product sequencing laid out by the MPS planner and optimizing the factory costs to produce.

• Review the detailed production schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure it continues to meet business priorities and requirements.

• Responsible for computing the needs have assigned packaging and food commodities brought into the Solon facility and outside warehouses through the use of SAP, including reacting to all changes to the production schedule.

• Responsible for generating all purchase orders for assigned materials and reconciling all blocked/parked invoices in a timely manner. (less than three days) Make sure all issues are resolved so that the vendor’s invoices can be paid on a timely basis.

• Responsible for tracking and counting down materials as required; to facilitate recipe changes, new materials, product discontinuations.

• Responsible for communicating to Purchasing on status of contracts, especially when they are near completion and assuring that contract effective dates correspond to the planned usage date.

• Responsible for evaluating the performance of vendors used by means of a semi-annual, which serves as a tool for the Purchasing Department to examine vendor services.

• Responsible for communicating to Nestle Transportation Company for intra-plant shipments and the follow-up on the same.

• Responsible for maintaining low levels on inventories, yet still meeting Production’s requirements.

• Responsible for seeing that the duties of a fellow coordinator, in absentia, are performed in order to insure complete coverage of the department’s functions.

• Responsible for monitoring Government approvals on materials, as needed. (especially packaging)

• Provides the communication needed to assure that promotional packaging materials are used as planned. Documents effective starting and ending dates for each promotion on a by product basis and maintains information for future records. Issues updates throughout phases of promotion and highlights planned effective date.

• Provides warehouse receiving with vendors schedule appointment times on the daily appointment log. Communicate with warehouse receiving information on shipments that may jeopardize the production schedule.

• Communicate with plant groups when test materials are planned. Coordinate deliveries and releases with vendors.

• Quality- Insure that raw and packaging materials are used before SLED. Run obsolete material/items nearing expiry report monthly. Take appropriate action to avoid scrapping of material before SLED. Insure that all rejected material is in blocked status.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 -2 years related experience and/or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Inventory experien
