The Director Procurement, GT site provides direct  accountability and oversight for total procurement activities at GT Works closely with Global Procurement and Business Unit leadership in pursuit of sustainable reductions in total cost of ownership of goods and services procured by ensuring that the lowest long term costs and highest quality goods and services are made available to Grifols.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides key input, reviews and adheres to the procurement policies and procedures that deliver best-in-class performance and are in compliance with all applicable corporate and federal regulatory requirements and standards. Establishes controls and procedures to support the procurement function.        

  • Leads sourcing efforts to enhance critical strategic sourcing business processes that includes supplier management and leveraging sourcing best practices and new developments in the industry. Oversees/negotiates multi-year purchasing contracts with major suppliers, blanket purchase orders, and national contracts for company. Develops the supply base, including assessment of capabilities for security of supply, capacities, cost structure, and future plans. Reviews solicitations to ensure comprehensive evaluation criteria are included where appropriate.

  • Oversees the day to day procurement operations. Schedules and assures timely completion of any transactions and analyses affecting the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings. Drives the standardization of purchasing best practices, processes and procedures.  Attracts, retains, and develops department staff. 

  • Promotes and participates in company-wide committees and task forces to ensure that strategic sourcing input is integrated into major business decisions and initiatives. Champions sourcing participation and support in project and day to day business unit activities. Interacts with various levels of management on significant matters requiring coordination between various functional groups within the organization. Coordinates and communicates status reports and other relevant information to senior management, program managers, and personnel.

  • Tracks planned and achieved savings and build methods for incorporating savings from sourcing teams into annual operating budgets. Assists in the development and implementation of procedures for streamlining the interface with the account payable accrual process.  Oversees the development and maintenance of procurement manual(s).

  • Identifies and executes performance improvement initiatives aimed at identifying and achieving year-on-year reductions in total sourcing spend where appropriate. Creates and implements a continuous improvement approach which will encompass a wide range of activities such as cross-functional sourcing teams targeting as well as supplier management and development. Creates and maintains a common scorecard that measures supplier performance across key service, price, quality and innovation dimensions. Adopts electronic purchasing capabilities to minimize transaction and resource intense activities. Integrates purchasing activities into core business processes, especially new product development and design-to-cost efforts on legacy products.

  • Ensures that internal policies (e.g., code of ethics) or procedures and behavior exhibited by the organization is honest, ethical, and professional and meet all requirement for Sarbanes – Oxley compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide support and counsel to procurement activities to other NA organizations.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement in a regulated environment (i.e. cGMP, SOX).

  • Excellent knowledge of reducing procurement expenditures by instituting best practice processes and negotiating favorable contracts through external partenship/alliances.

  • Excellent negotiation skills with experience negotiating service contracts and overseeing all aspects of a corporate purchasing operations.

  • Strong ethics and integrity as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
