The Vice President, Program and Portfolio Management for Neuromodulation (NMD) is responsible for shaping and executing our product portfolio investment strategy.  This leadership position is responsible for the program management of the entire NMD portfolio globally, including early technology development, product development, and sustaining - representing $100M+.  This individual will own and drive activities to support and grow the business including new product development and introduction, technology platform development, portfolio governance, sustaining, business continuity and quality system programs.


In addition to leading a team responsible for the execution of these strategies, this role will be a key resource in proactively engaging multiple functions and senior level stakeholders to make strategic portfolio and program decisions.  This position will work cross functionally with multiple teams within R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Finance, and multiple commercial franchises.  This role will report into the President Neuromodulation & will sit on the Neuromodulation leadership team.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • People Management: Leads division project management function effectively; provides input to functional directors and VPs on team performance.
  • Product/Technology Management: Defines and directs the technical approach to technology application and new product development; identifies, communicates, and manages division-level technical risk.  Sets direction for new product development.
  • Project/Program Management: Shapes key project management processes and initiatives; develops and implements division-level business plan; builds team ownership and commitment to program and business plans.  Participates in industry-wide program management initiatives.
  • Process Management: Leads and approves TDP/PDP, policy, and practice improvements to drive functional excellence; sets policies for key projects and programs; approves implementation plans for new program management systems.  Actively influences cross-functional and cross-divisional efficiencies in program management.
  • Communications and Reviews: Creates a climate of open division-level communications.  Shares business knowledge information and solutions with functional management, business planning, and PIB.  Resolves cross-functional issues.  Represents division to the business community (internal and external).
  • Partners closely with peers in Marketing, Finance, R&D, Clinical, Quality, Operations, and Regulatory to develop and execute a product portfolio designed to continue our global leadership position.
  • Chairs the Project Investment Board (PIB) & project portfolio governance meetings. Establishes and leads project portfolio governance, ensuring high quality planning and delivery, identification and mitigation of risk and issues, financial stewardship.
  • Guides the PIB in appropriate decision making through strong judgment, strategic questioning, and the ability to analyze options and implications.
  • Creates an environment encouraging change, innovative thinking and risk taking within scope of business responsibility to continuously improve business effectiveness, simplification and enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Part of the Franchise Leadership Teams which are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the franchises, recommending portfolio investments, partnering with finance to drive key financial processes, and for delivering the portfolio meeting cost/schedule/performance. 
  • Partners and aligns with Finance on portfolio processes such as project business case, return on investment analyses, project portfolio performance and financial reporting, annual planning and budgeting processes, and value realization.
  • Oversees and mentors the professional development of program management team members.
  • Responsible for understanding the key objectives of the business.  Applies project management skills, strategic analysis, and influence to ensure strategic imperatives are met.
  • Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g., compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc)
