Subcontracts Manager
CS Energy is seeking an EPC Subcontracts Manager to join our team. The Subcontracts Manager leads construction-related subcontract and services engagements from procurement through project execution, manages efforts on bids, selections, subcontracting processes, field performance monitoring and issue resolution. This position will require some travel to our project sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the subcontract process
- Effectively give guidance to internal team, stake holders, clients and direct report(s)
- Participates in proposal / estimating efforts for a major project(s) and become involved in early negotiations with subcontractors, prior to project release
- Ensures all subcontractors and vendors have an executed Non-disclosure Agreement in place with CS Energy before sharing any project/ bid information
- Ensures all subcontractors and vendors receive the company's standard Terms and Conditions before submitting a quotation
- Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work, drawings, other RFP documents and develops a complete understanding of the RFP requirements
- Drafts RFPs per Contract Documents with detailed scope and clarifications
- Ensures bids and proposals are completed on time for team review prior to execution
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the contract documents and the potential risks for a project
- Makes well-supported recommendations on how to mitigate and manage risks
- Provides project setup of subcontract related activities
- Executes and manages the subcontract process on contracts including bid list preparation, solicitation of quotes, and evaluating, negotiating and awarding of contracts
- Leads negotiations for moderate risk subcontracts
- Negotiates the best deal for cost, quality, and delivery using the company buyout procedure
- Collaborates as needed to resolve major complex issues
- Ensures contract documents are issued correctly and on schedule
- Develops and monitors project budgets and schedules (i.e., man-hours, cost, etc) and aligns to subcontract budgets and goals
- Manages the establishment and/or monitoring of subcontract goals
- Monitors project subcontract activities and reports status
- Conducts field visits to gather relevant data on project site conditions, verify production rates, construction quality, and issue resolution
- Participates in and/or leads meetings for the proposal and/or project
- Resolves problems and issues to maintain schedule and mitigate risk for the project
- Interfaces extensively with the Estimating and Operations departments to address any risks or issues with the subcontractors
- Assists with the resolution of claims
- May develop, create and lead presentations to internal and external clients
- Develops and conducts training programs, coaches and mentors professionals in procurement processes, tools, commercial terms and conditions and project execution
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant subcontract management experience in the energy, including solar and/or construction industry
- Demonstrated Knowledge of contract law, contract administration, and procurement regulations
- Solar industry experience preferred but not required
- Track record of achievement and career progression
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems and site operations highly desired
- Ability to multi-task and work on projects concurrently
- Proven ability to effectively train, mentor, manage and coach others including direct report(s)
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Word, etc.) and experience working with project management software and systems
