Job Description
The Senior Director of Partnerships and Growth role is a role within the Platform organization that is responsible for leading the strategy, planning, and ongoing engagement with strategic partners – product and channel.
This role will largely focus on our Financial Services vertical inclusive of Financial Institutions, Fintech’s, and Merchants. In addition, there will be an element of leading relationships with key strategic accounts, and for cultivating channel relationships with key prospective accounts.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identifies significant, forward-looking FinTech industry opportunity areas of growth for FIS that will have significant impact on FIS EPS (earnings per share) and shareholder value.
• Drives new Strategic Innovation partnerships in identified areas of growth. Includes identification of partners, managing partner due diligence (technical, risk, financial), business case development and financial modeling and the negotiation of commercial and investment terms. Ensures deals are aligned with NAFI (North American financial institutions) growth strategy.
• Generates growth revenue at desirable margins from Strategic Innovation partnerships. Ensures internal resources are aligned to complete required technical and business integration. Works with business and Corporate Marketing to develop and execute a go-to-market strategy.
• Generates capital gains on FIS Micro-VC Investment Portfolio if there are liquidation events.
• Serves as corporate executive sponsor and escalation point internally between partner companies and internal business units. Provides corporate governance to partner companies by serving on their Boards of Directors.
• Works with Corporate Marketing to manage the “FIS Innovation Story” by ensuring continual alignment of our strategies.
• Evangelizes FIS innovation broadly within FIS and externally to clients, industry, analysts, media, etc.
• Serves as a visible and respected industry thought leader representing FIS with industry press, equity and industry analysts, industry associations, at industry and FIS conferences and in strategic sales opportunities and senior executive meetings at key accounts.
• Other related duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, finance, computer science or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education desired.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Experience in developing strategic partnerships with early-stage technology companies
• Thorough knowledge of FIS products and services, banking technology, payments technology and at least one banking discipline
• A broad/deep industry network
• Extensive knowledge of banking industry, competitors, practices, regulations and operations• Strong financial modeling skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within FIS and client organizations, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
• Proven track record of managing teams of different disciplines; technical, analytical and business
• Proven negotiating skills
• Extensive knowledge of product development, management, and marketing of financial services products
• Ability to travel frequently
• Ability to confidentially interact with all levels of management at FIS, at clients, and at partner companies and boards
• Ability to represent FIS on partner company boards as a director
FIS JOB LEVEL DESCRIPTION
Senior director level role. Excellent knowledge of the field with strong leadership skills. Works independently with only administrative supervision on the most complex projects with extensive latitude for independent judgment. Coach and mentor others on staff and is a role model for entire team. Effectively communicates with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to provide communication on issues or complex information to a wide audience based on knowledge. Participates in strategic planning and direction. Develops, documents and implements standards, guidelines, direction and education on process/procedures for staff. Leads highly visible, sensitive and critical strategic projects. Typically requires ten plus years of experience in strategy, consulting, product development, marketing or finance in the financial services technology industry with at least 6 years leadership responsibility. Requires in-depth knowledge and expertise of the products, practices, regulations, and operations of the organization.
