PURPOSE

In this role, the Director will partner closely with leaders across the Department of Athletics, Capital Planning, and University Advancement including the Office of the Vice President, Alumni Association, Major and Principal Giving, Leadership & Annual Giving, and Planned Giving. TAMUCC has a centralized advancement structure, which means the Director and their team are able to liaise with a university team for major, parent, planned giving, leadership, and annual giving colleagues committed to collaboration and advancing Athletic fundraising priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES​

  • Lead a coordinated program of fundraising activities designed to increase the number and level of major and/or annual gifts donors for Islanders Athletics.

  • Maintain campaign fundraising momentum for the Department of Athletics with increases each year.

  • Grow the Islanders Athletic Fund.

  • Manage individual portfolio of major & principal gift prospects and donors, with an emphasis on gifts of $25K+. Successfully close $100K in new commitments each year. 

  • Partner and drive strategy for Islanders Athletics across University Advancement fundraising teams, acting as the primary Athletics liaison to regional fundraising by developing and leading training for University Advancement annual, leadership, major, and principal gift officers on how to advance the athletics fundraising priorities.

  • Identify major, leadership, and principal gift prospects and develop and implement strategies to optimize gift closures. 

  • Represent and drive the Athletics Advancement goals in the long-range capital planning process for all athletics capital projects, serving on a working group to develop an Athletics master plan.

  • Work with the Vice President for Athletics, Vice President for Advancement, Deputy Athletic Directors and other administrators within the Athletics Department to articulate funding priorities and communicate the Department’s campaign case to both internal and external constituencies.

  • Serve as a member of the Athletic Department’s senior staff and advise on all alumni relations and development activities. 

  • Represent Islanders Athletics at key events.

  • Manage Athletics Development team. Provide leadership, determine and evaluate individual and team goals, develop and implement on-going training and mentoring. 

  • Oversee administrative support management to ensure effective team success and daily operations.
