Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team Onsite in Fairfield, CA! You will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. You will also provide premier engineering and manufacturing support to enable on-time, lowest-cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. You will design, control, and improve manufacturing processes and systems in collaboration with the Integrated Product Team. You will apply your skills to implement improvements that reduce cycle time and costs, increase productivity, and maintain a high level of safety and product quality in the manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

  • Guide junior engineers in the manufacturing engineering team.

  • Support a manufacturing area as part of a cross-functional team by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and the incorporation of engineering changes.

  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling design, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, and product designs.

  • Communicate effectively within and outside of one's own team to explain facts, policies, and practices of the work area.

  • Lead corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence.

  • Adhere to all EHS practices and standards across the site, including but not limited to proactive reporting of observed hazards and recommendations to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.

  • Proposing the sequence of operations, installations, and supports in specifying procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes, which may include disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.

  • Investigate and resolve technical, operational, and quality issues through root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and cross-functional collaboration

  • Interface and work with Production Operators, Design, Quality, and other Manufacturing Engineers to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and ensure products are manufactured in compliance with drawings and specifications.

  • Coordinate with the test team for Acceptance Testing (LAT).


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

  • Knowledge of mechanics and application of mechanical movements.

  • Experience in interpreting and working with engineering blueprints, specifications, and advanced measuring equipment for tool validation and inspection.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • PMP certified, will be highly valued.

  • Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for Solid Works) and/or simulation tools.

  • Experience with designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated tooling and machinery.
