Job summary:
As a development engineer you will be responsible for supporting new process and product development and their integration into manufacturing. In this role, you will use your knowledge, experience, and analysis techniques to help select, develop, and optimize manufacturing methods and tools. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define and communicate capabilities, evaluate new opportunities, and provide technical solutions to manufacturing challenges.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Enable global introductions and transfers into production environment
- Rapidly deploy new products and processes in line with The Right FITT
- Manage and control the adoption and existence of best practices in common factory approach organization
- Effectively operate lab, pilot, and/or production equipment
- Lead technical activities related to new product development efforts from tool design through prototype delivery and production planning
- Analyze / interpret inspection data for process and tool optimization
- Represent GTC Development Engineering/Operations in front of customers (external and internal customers)
- Responsible for design for manufacturing reviews and PFMEA efforts
- Identify manufacturing resource requirements and prepare plans for product and process realization
- Assure proper process control documentation and lessons learned information is generated for assigned projects
- Develop and execute manufacturing qualification plans for process validation
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications: B.S. in Engineering; Mechanical or Materials Engineering preferred
Skills and Experience:
- 3-6 years’ experience developing & validating new manufacturing processes
- Strong technical background with experience in a manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of GD&T principles
- Working knowledge of SPC software & analysis methods
- Lean Practitioner Level I and Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification preferred
- Strong computer literacy, especially in MS Office
- Experience with 3-D modeling tools such as SolidWorks
- Ability to use measurement instruments/hand tools
