General Information:

The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a one-year visiting Assistant Professor position in Finance. The appointment begins fall 2025. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position.

About the Department: The Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 17 full-time faculty with 14 faculty in finance and 3 in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses. FIN & BLAW faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding teaching, service, and research. James Madison University subscribes to both the Standard & Poor’s Compustat, the University of Chicago’s Center for Research in Securities Prices (CRSP) and NYSE TAQ databases through WRDS, and students and faculty have access to Bloomberg through the Gaglioti Capital Markets Laboratory. Interdisciplinary and applied research is encouraged.

About the College: The AACSB-accredited James Madison University College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs. The College includes the Center for Entrepreneurship, Center for Professional Selling, Small Business Development Center, Capital Markets Lab, Madison Consulting, and other programs focused on outreach and engagement with the business community. Our very successful alumni hold C-suite positions at major corporations including SAP, Fidelity, Bank of America, IBM, McKinsey & Company, Deloitte, KPMG, and other Fortune 500 companies and readily engage with the College. Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching needs include corporate finance, Investments, and/or electives such as Real Estate Finance. The normal teaching load will be 4/4, i.e., four 3-credit courses each semester during the regular academic year.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Finance (or ABD in a Ph.D. program in Finance with a dissertation defense by December 2025) from an AACSB-accredited institution and have the potential for collaborating on scholar
