A Brief Overview:
As a Mental Health Assessment Specialist II, you will play a pivotal role within our Behavioral Health Services team, conducting advanced assessments and evaluations of patients with complex mental health needs. You will work closely with clinicians, patients, and families to provide comprehensive assessments and recommendations for treatment and care.

What you will do:

  • Conduct in-depth assessments and evaluations of patients with complex mental health conditions using standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.

  • Analyze and synthesize complex patient information, including medical history, social factors, and environmental variables.

  • Lead diagnostic discussions with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans

  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, particularly those facing complex and challenging mental health issues.

  • Communicate assessment findings and treatment recommendations with exceptional empathy, cultural sensitivity, and clarity.

  • Provide expert crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.

  • Ensure meticulous and accurate record-keeping of assessments, evaluations, and patient interactions in strict compliance with hospital policies and legal regulations.

  • Prepare detailed assessment reports that provide a comprehensive overview of the patient's mental health status and treatment recommendations.

  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement complex treatment plans.

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to junior assessment specialists, offering guidance and expertise in complex cases.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in the field of behavioral health through ongoing education and training opportunities.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based assessment practices within the department.

What you will need:

Education:

  • Masters Degree Counseling Required Or

  • Masters Degree Clinical Psychology Required Or

  • Masters Degree Social Work Required

Experience:

  • 5+ Years of experience in behavioral health assessment and evaluation

Licenses/Certification:

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) Required Or

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Required Or

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PsyD or PhD) in the state of Illinois. Required
