About the role
We are seeking a Senior Brand Designer to join our dynamic in-house creative team.
In this role, you will shape the design of our B2B business lines to deliver our brand story in compelling and thoughtfully designed ways. You will lead design initiatives, with a solid awareness of our different audiences and their different levels of financial know-how.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Brand Creative, you will work with a team of creatives and marketers to help grow our B2B business lines. Your responsibilities will include redefining and advocating for a design-forward, customer-centric experience across our two B2B business lines, Betterment at Work and Betterment for Advisors. You will lead conceptual development and hands-on execution of advertising, sales materials, product demo videos, social posts, research reports, content programs, and event spaces. You will work within our recently refreshed brand guidelines, while also pioneering new visual ways for our B2B brands to be expressed as we launch new products and campaigns.
The ideal candidate is a strong conceptual thinker with a broad range of visual design skills, covering everything from digital campaigns to branding. This role requires a strategic mindset with strong leadership skills and understanding of B2B marketing, and who can collaborate effectively and manage multiple priorities from creative concepting to iterative design.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
- New York City: $115,000 - $145,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus. For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Tuesday through Thursday, weekly.
A day in the life
- Ensure all creative work aligns with brand guidelines and standards, while also having a sense for when design systems need to evolve
- Partner closely with marketing and creative operations to see the work from ideation to completion
- Work with SMEs and copywriters to craft compelling, meaningful design, with an understanding of the messaging, strategy, and nuance for each target audience
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize based on urgency and importance without compromising quality
- Attend team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and design critiques to share insights, provide feedback, and contribute to collective problem-solving
- Work closely with all stakeholders, from top of funnel sales enablement to post-sale client onboarding and experience; this role requires a strong understanding of the B2B sales journey
- Assist in hiring a Jr. Brand Designer who will report to you and support hands-on design execution
What we’re looking for
- An experienced visual designer who is able to translate technical and financial complexity into visual simplicity
- Strong typographic skills and an understanding of data visualization
- Experience in editorial layout, page design, and use of grid systems
- An open, effective, and proactive communicator
- Experience managing people and providing honest feedback in a constructive manner
- Ability to adapt to changes in direction, knowing when to ask questions, and use judgment on when the perspective from the design team can improve process
- Can clearly articulate your design decisions and you can comfortably (and enthusiastically) present work to cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Asana, Google Workspace, Slack
- While it’s not required, it’s a plus if you have experience in finance, healthcare, or a similarly regulated industry
