Job Summary

The Senior Associate Director, Community Engagement is responsible for successfully planning and managing fundraising events for the CHOC Foundation that include, but are not limited to, the CHOC Walk in the Park, CHOC Gala, CHOC Charity Classic, CHOC Talks Mental Health Luncheon, CHOC Night at the Honda Center and CHOC Walk related fundraising events . Ensures that all fundraising events are within budget, meet financial objectives, and appropriately represent CHOC Children's to the donor community. Responsible for implementing sponsorship development strategies, planning and execution of event logistics, communication planning and execution, vendor management, and volunteer recruitment and administration. Works in collaboration with the Senior Director, Special Events, the Special Events team, other Foundation and hospital staff, hospital leadership and volunteers to identify, cultivate and solicit individual and corporate gifts for sponsorships and in-kind donations . Has an annual fundraising goal of $2+ million and adheres to fundraising best practices and benchmarks.

Pay Range

Minimum $71,802 Midpoint $107,702 Maximum $143,582

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum seven (7) years of experience in developing, managing and planning fundraising events.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or closely related field, or equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education.

Training

Required: Knowledge of planning, production and management of large, small, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests, with the ability to formulate creative ideas, and to analyze, evaluate, and negotiate details reflective of a successful event. Demonstrated project management, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage details of multiple and complex projects within firm schedules, set priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of activities or job duties, and effectively carry out event goals in a manner that enhances the image of the hospital. Personal fundraising track record of individual and corporate major gifts and sponsorship; well-developed skill set of prioritizing, focusing and executing strategic fundraising plans for large scale fundraising events and peer-2-peer events. Fiscal and budget management knowledge and experience.

Specialized Skills

Required: Must be team oriented and pay attention to detail and follow-up. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with donors, Foundation team members, Board Members, CHOC physicians, grateful families, hospital staff, vendors and volunteers. Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud Luminate and Convio. Working knowledge of social/digital media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, SnapChat and blogs. Strong multi-tasking skills required and the ability to work in a fast paced fundraising environment. Ability to lift 25 pounds (position requires moving, carrying and transporting event materials). Ability to travel on behalf of CHOC Children's Foundation business. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to attend other events on behalf of organization.
