Our Research and Technology organization is currently seeking a Summer 2024 intern to join our Discovery Formulation team.

 

The internship position within the Formulation team of the Discovery group is a laboratory-based position that provides a tremendous learning potential in lipid nanoparticle formulation discovery. During the internship, the intern will primarily focus on fundamentals of LNP formulation and understanding how different lipid components and chemical structures affect assembly and efficacy. The intern will learn to design and develop productive screening assays to evaluate structure-activity relationship of different lipid components and subsequent biological activity. The successful candidate will collaborate with other teams at Spark to leverage AI/machine learning to potentially improve the LNP formulation and biological efficacy. Additionally, there will be opportunities to learn high-throughput screening assays. Through these collaborative efforts with diverse scientific teams, the intern will contribute to the advancement of non-viral gene delivery platforms at Spark.

 

Basic Qualifications

• Must be a current student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university
• Majoring in Chemistry or having significant chemistry courses
• Minimum availability of 10 weeks (June 3 – August 9th)
• Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience

• Demonstrated interest in biotechnology and gene therapy industry

Spark takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary for potential new employees.  The base salary range for this position is currently from $45,100-$67,700.
