The Position

Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. seeks a Senior Process Engineer at its Tucson, AZ location.

Duties: Implement manufacturing processes to improve and provide support to existing processes used in the formulation and filling of diagnostic assays. Partner with the Validations, Maintenance and Operations teams to monitor and solve manufacturing processes using DMAIC principles. Conduct process characterizations and apply SPC (Statistical Process Control) by monitoring manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure consistent production quality. Apply various lean manufacturing concepts to monitor manufacturing processes. Design patentable components for systems and manufacturing processes to be included in the assembly and kitting of consumables. Ensure manufacturing processes’ compliance with cGMP, FDA, and ISO13485 standards and guidelines. Maintain value stream maps and pFMEAS. Provide technical guidance to shop floor associates and junior process engineers.

Education and experience required: Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field, and 2 years of experience in position offered or a closely related occupation.

Special Requirements: Employer requires 2 years of experience in each of the following areas:

• AutoCAD/ ProE/: Designing and implementing new equipment and tools to improve manufacturing efficiencies, reduce ergonomic stress, and improve quality
• Reagent and instrument manufacturing: Using reagent and instrument manufacturing standards and guidelines, ensure cGMP, FDA and ISO13485 compliance.
• Applying lean manufacturing concepts including Heijunka, Bottleneck Analysis, Waste Identification ad Elimination, SMED, Kanban, Kaizen, and Poke-Yoke to drive process capability, quality and cost improvements and implement solutions to improve yield and throughput in a high mix high volume environment.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Tucson Arizona is $98,952 to $149,968.  Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
