About the role

The principal purpose of the Procurement Director is to work with Facilities Management and Property Management leaders to help build & continuously improve all Category Management, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management activities for Newmark’s Facilities & Project Management categories. This role is responsible for both strategy and program development, and the execution of that strategy. The Procurement Director will primarily support Newmark’s Global Corporate Services and Property Management business units. To begin, this role will be a senior-level, individual contributor that over time will hire, develop, and oversee a team of Category Managers.

Additionally, the Procurement Director will be responsible for supporting all business units in business development efforts where supply chain management is applicable. The individual in this role must have experience in preparing business development materials and presenting to all levels of the organization (external client experience is highly valued).

Internally, the Procurement Director will collaborate heavily with both the Global Procurement Data & Analytics Lead and on-account procurement professionals in the development of procurement best practices, policies and procedures. A strong background in finance and data analysis will be critical to the success of this role. The Procurement Director will be responsible for meeting or exceeding all procurement and business unit shared targets and goals and will work with the Head of Global Procurement to package and communicate those results for dissemination across the executive team(s). Additionally, this individual will work closely with business unit Account Managers, Property Managers and Finance professionals.

Program Development

  • In partnership with the Head of Procurement and business unit Executives develop a Preferred Supplier program for Facility and Project Management spend categories that delivers exceptional value to our clients and improves the efficiency of our on-account professionals
  • Partnering with the Global Procurement Head of Data & Analytics, complete deep and thorough spend analyses to drive the prioritization of program goals and targets
  • Develop a platform for communication of created program materials that is easily accessible by individuals who will leverage the program (think SharePoint, Power BI, Newmark Intranet, etc.)

Business Development

  • Aide business units in business development activities that involve supply chain management
  • Respond to RFP’s including performing complex analyses and preparing RFP materials such as presentations or speaking agendas for Executives
  • In partnership with the Global Procurement Head of Data & Analytics, proactively and reactively provide business units with spend and supplier information
  • Attend and present Client presentations with the ability to articulate the value of Newmark’s vision/roadmap and Preferred Supplier Program

Supplier Relationship Development and Management

  • In support of the Preferred Supplier program, utilizing detailed spend analytics, identify key suppliers per spend category
  • Collaborate with identified suppliers to sell the vision of the program and gain alignment on shared goals and targets that benefit Newmark, Newmark’s Clients, and suppliers
  • Where and when applicable implement Master Agreements with suppliers that outline negotiated commercial terms and SLA’s
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop a roadmap and execute plan at a client and/or local property level. Also partner with on-account professionals to implement roadmap
  • Hold regularly scheduled Business Reviews with Preferred Suppliers

Continuous Improvement and Program Growth

  • Over time, the expectation is that the Preferred Supplier program will go deeper within original in-scope spend categories (ex. Development of Savings targets through RFP’s or bringing in new suppliers who better fit the program’s needs)
  • Additionally, the Procurement Director should continue to expand the categories and geography the program covers
  • Hire, train, and develop Category Managers to support the expansion of the Preferred Supplier program

 

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Previous Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have spent some time as a consultant or worked for a corporate organization in which they contributed to the development of a new function or product offering
  • Corporate Experience: At least 7 years in a Procurement Category Manager, Sourcing Manager or Center of Excellence role (Facilities related categories a plus)
