Through the design and implementation of various types of research studies and the strategic interpretation of data, the mission of Humana Healthcare Research (HHR) is to produce high-quality, actionable evidence and rigorous, peer-reviewed research to improve health outcomes, guide Humana’s strategy, and advance the body of knowledge for the scientific community and society at large.



HHR needs your research, data science, and advanced analytic skills as part of a team executing on a comprehensive portfolio of health outcomes research.  We are hiring into a Real-World Evidence (RWE) research team which maintains a broad set of external partnerships with academia, industry, government, and others to produce high quality scientific findings used by a wide array of stakeholders. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leveraging various types of clinical and administrative data sets, including but not limited to EMR, lab data, authorization data, survey data, and claims data. A successful candidate will also be knowledgeable in various methodologies such as propensity score analysis, difference in difference, and have experience conducting retrospective observational studies using administrative claims data.  

Humana is seeking an Informatics Principal. As part of the HHR team, you will work collaboratively to develop and execute on an expanding portfolio of outcomes research studies:

• Leverages advanced knowledge of integrated data, modeling, optimization, and tools for the development of new research and executing on existing contracts.
• Provide a leadership role in developing new data sources for research projects.
• Consult on the scientific approach to executing research studies drawing on statistical and technical expertise.
• As an advanced subject matter expert, work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas with clients and internal stakeholders
• Communicate insights and analytical findings to both business and scientific audiences.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree and 10 or more years of technical experience

• 2 or more years of leadership experience
• Proficiency in using technologies such as SQL, R, Python, and SAS
• Strategic thinking and planning capabilities
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Experience with clinical, claims, pharmacy or other healthcare data.
• Experience with advanced analytics, including program evaluation and optimization
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Able to articulate and present findings and insights to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced experience in SAS, SQL, Python, R, or similar tools Advanced Degree Experience in defining and executing measurement programs
• Proficient in Machine Learning Techniques such as Lasso
• Cluster analysis experierence

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

 

$142,300 - $195,700 per year

 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
