Bachoco OK Foods is seeking a Sr. Director of Research & Development for our Corporate location in Fort Smith, AR.
Summary: The Sr. Director of Research functions as the liaison between the Sales Department, the production group, and the Marketing Department within Bachoco OK Foods as well as other outside customers such as National accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- The Sr. Director coordinates all new products within Bachoco OK Foods and oversees the development of samples to the proper departments, the creation of the production processes, the initiation of specifications, ordering of ingredients for the first production runs, label approvals, coordination packaging and packaging materials. These duties are carried out through communication with all departments involved within Bachoco OK Foods as well as the assigning of projects to subordinates.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises three employees in the Research and Development Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university and five to ten years experience in Poultry Science, Food Science or a related field.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive typing skills and knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software; preferably Microsoft Word and Excel. Other basic computer skills including knowledge of Windows software are also needed.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license required. Employee may be required to travel short distances occasionally.
Other Skills and Abilities: Employee must be available for office hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some after-hours work and light traveling may also be required for this position.
