We are seeking a motivated Transportation Planner or Engineer with Travel Demand Modeling experience to join our growing team in Atlanta, GA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work together with a talented and diverse team to contribute to innovative transportation solutions for clients such as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and municipalities. The ideal candidate will support the development and implementation of comprehensive transportation systems, including travel demand forecasting, plan development, and multimodal networks planning while addressing regional and statewide mobility goals. How will you contribute to the team?
As an integral member of the Atlanta Transportation Planning Group, you will play a vital role in developing and applying transportation models, supporting and implementing transportation plans and designs that prioritize multimodal systems, ensuring alignment with regional and statewide mobility goals. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, data collection, and performing analysis related to travel demand modeling, and mobility patterns using Big Data and software tools such as Bentley® CUBE, PTV VISUM, TransCAD, and GIS.
You will prepare reports, traffic forecasts, and technical documents to support transportation studies and guide project and design decision-making. Collaborating with internal and external clients, you will work to ensure project outcomes address the needs of economic development and diverse populations. You will also involve in public outreach activities, including attending meetings, workshops, and events, to gather input and effectively communicate project plans.
Additionally, you will have opportunities to analyze traffic operations and safety improvement measures, providing practical recommendations to enhance the efficiency and safety of transportation networks. You will collaborate with environmental specialists, urban planners, highway designers, safety engineers, signal and ITS designers, and other professionals to integrate transportation systems with broader land use and environmental planning objectives.
What will you contribute?
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field with graduate level studies preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation planning or a related field preferred or 2 years since Master’s
- Proficiency in transportation planning software and tools, such as Bentley® CUBE, PTV VISUM, TransCAD, and GIS; knowledge of traffic simulation software such as SYNCHRO and PTV VISSIM is a plus
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and policies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- AICP certification or PE license is desired
