SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for evaluating patient electronic health record in order to provide prescription refills as a delegate of various Harbin Clinic providers across multiple specialties, based on approved protocol. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: learning/knowledge of drug classes and uses to determine refill authorization, checking assigned voicemail, communication with pharmacies and patients as necessary, intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Answers the telephone and directs calls appropriately.
- Uses patient cases/referral orders to notify proper staff of patient calls, concerns, and questions.
- Monitors and responds to assigned tasks in the EHR in a timely manner.
- All other duties assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Checks email and all interoffice communication daily to maintain contact with colleagues and management and to receive important clinic updates
- Prescription Refills:
- Checks voicemail as assigned to address urgent patient refill requests
- Responds appropriately to prescription refill requests according to designated protocol
- Responds to each request with exceptional accuracy and professionalism
- Responds in a timely manner and manages assigned refills in order of priority
- Works together with colleagues to promote a teamwork-driven environment by offering assistance when appropriate (and asking for help, if needed)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred
- Previous experience in the medical field is preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of the use and operation of general office equipment (computer, phone, copier, fax)
- Working with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis codes
- Knowledge of medication brand and generic formulation names
- Keen attention to detail
- Practical sense of task-dependent priority and time management
- Excellent customer-service and professionalism
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and provide great customer service under stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and pleasant manner in both verbal and written form.
