Description

 

This is a benefited, full-time position (80 hours per pay period) working varied 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday from 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, with occasional call, holiday rotation, and possible weekend shifts. The position is located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

What you'll do: 

  • Responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in procedures for patient care.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis.
  • Responds to immediate requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to insure there is no patient exposure to bioburden.
  • Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards.
  • Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed.
 

Qualifications

 

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program.
  • Knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation, and medical equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD Certification (must not be provisional).
    • One year of experience in SPD in lieu of certification acceptable upon hire, OR hired into Scripps Sterile Pr
