Job Purpose and Summary
This position is responsible for managing an assigned region of warehouses for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Work involves ordering supplies and analyzing operations to ensure proper inventory levels are kept for a large and varied stock of items. Work is primarily performed with independence and reviewed by a manager for attainment of program goals, completion of projects and overall performance. Supervision is exercised over assigned warehouse staff.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Supervises, plans, and organizes regional warehouse operations and staff functions including performance management, delegation of work assignments and review of work product.
Provides guidance and direction to staff in other departments with respect to inventory management activities. Assists with training and familiarizes employees with established policies and procedures related to inventory management.
Develops and implements effective inventory procedures. Prepares action plans, resolves problems, completes audits and identifies trends to meet operational standards. Provides information and recommendations for improvement.
Establishes minimum and maximum stocking levels and monitors inventory usage. Prepares long and short-range forecasts to ensure proper stocking levels are met to operate at optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
Leads the inventory cycle count process for the assigned region and participates in various inventory projects/cycle counts for other districts. Ensures warehouse inventory activity is accurately reflected in the system.
Conducts periodic inspections of inventory locations and audits inventory activity reports for accuracy.
Reviews and processes all material requests for stock in the warehouse. Schedules the delivery of materials to field locations. Coordinates inventory transfers with other departments. Ensures the continuous supply and timely replenishment of materials, including expediting emergency materials when necessary.
Initiates and processes inventory related purchase orders, requisitions, adjustments, transfers, and requests for the disposal of used/obsolete materials.
Supervises and maintains the storage area by organizing floor space, adhering to storage principals, and recommending improvements to maximize efficiency.
Assists in the coordination of inventory related agility agreements with PennDOT.
Maintains the security of the warehouse.
Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Nine (9) years of experience in resource management, inventory control, or warehousing operations; OR,
Seven (7) years of experience in resource management, inventory control, or warehousing operations AND an associate degree. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must obtain and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within six (6) months of employment.
