A Brief Overview


The Data Product Manager will oversee the intake of data engineering, data science, and BI work at Safelite. This role involves managing developer workload in Jira, optimizing team efficiency by pairing workstreams into sprint-sized steps, and conducting initial project scoping and sizing. Additionally, it requires managing stakeholder expectations and communication, and understanding data analysis and product management principles to define strategy, prioritize features, and monitor performance. The goal is to drive data initiatives forward, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of data solutions, and providing effective communication and clarity on the overarching roadmap and strategy.

What you will do

  • Oversee the intake process for data engineering, data science, and BI work to ensure documentation, initial technical scoping, prioritization, and optimal allocation of large and small incoming requests.

  • Develop and manage Jira tickets for all incoming work, ensuring clear and concise documentation of requirements and tasks.

  • Enhance team productivity by strategically pairing workstreams into sprint-sized steps, balancing workloads, and ensuring efficient resource allocation.

  • Perform initial scoping and sizing of projects to provide accurate estimates and timelines for delivery. This ensures realistic planning and execution of data initiatives.

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders and data leaders to manage expectations and provide updates on project status.

  • Utilize data analysis techniques and product management principles to define product strategy, prioritize features, monitor development workstreams, and ensure effective project budget tracking.

  • Facilitate cross-functional communication to identify business needs and align data initiatives with organizational goals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Analytics or related discipline or relevant experience Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in Product Management Function Required

  • 1-3 years experience working in an analytics or data engineering technical role Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively with various teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders. (High proficiency)

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in munging, analyzing, and visualizing data using tools like SQL, Tableau, and Python. (High proficiency)

  • Exposure to cloud and on-premise data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Oracle, BigQuery), relational databases, and data pipeline tools. (High proficiency)

  • Ability to work effectively with various teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders. (High proficiency)

  • Familiarity with data science concepts and tools, such as statistical analysis and machine learning. (Medium proficiency)

  • Experience analyzing data to derive insights and inform decision-making. (Medium proficiency)
