Follow Zones, LLC on X @Zones, and LinkedIn and Facebook.Position Overview: The Director of Strategic Inventory Management is responsible for creating and leading strategy for inventory management and demand planning for a $2B procurement organization, supporting run-rate and project-based inventory from a national distribution network and tight partnership with suppliers.  The successful candidate will execute strategies and tactics for improving inventory turn and health, cash flow, lead times through in-stock management (Zones or partner inventory), operational efficiency, and operational costs.    This position reports to the Vice President of North America Supply Chain.Develops and maintains strong relationships and communication processes with various leadership staff, including Sales, Strategic Account Teams, Finance, PPM and Logistics, to understand customer and business opportunities/needs/ constraints, create effective solutions, and jointly develop strategies and initiatives to improve inventory processes and practices.Manage and innovate inventory management tools and processes using Kinaxis Rapid Response, Excel, and Microsoft D365.  Lead the development and implementation of supply chain strategies, launch change management and demand planning for each assigned product category to support the joint business objectives.What you’ll do as the Director of Strategic Inventory Management: The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High level of Supply Chain, Planning and Operations background preferred, with experience in multiple disciplines (e.g., manufacturing, planning, logistics, etc.)
  • Exceptional understanding of supply chain and procurement processes and strategy
  • Track record of achievement in leadership and building a supply chain team, including coaching, training and developing
  • Advanced understanding of business operations, Finance equities, and risk management
  • Advanced ability to build forward-thinking partnerships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills including stakeholder management, team building, motivating, conflict resolution, and interpersonal and demonstrate unquestioned integrity and trust
  • Knowledge of and experience with best practices in inventory and materials management (e.g., Classification Methods (A,B,C,D), Safety Stock, Lean, Consignment, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (such as negotiation, influence, and presentation skills), with the ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate stakeholders to meet business objectives.
  • Proven experience in transforming organizations through the implementation of lean/six sigma methodologies, goals, and strategies.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, time-management, customer service, negotiation, interpersonal, decision making, leadership, organization, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • MBA, Supply Chain Management or Operational Logistics degree
