Medtronic’s Supply Chain is central to the company, ensuring that the right product is available at the right place and time to meet the needs of our customers and patients. The Global Supply Chain (GSC) Function is tasked with balancing supply and demand across the organization and optimizing inventory levels to meet worldwide demand for Medtronic’s diverse range of businesses and products.

This position is within the GSC - Finance Inventory Planning team. Our key responsibilities include driving standardization and simplification across the business, producing and consolidating financial figures, and leading inventory and SOGL business partnering at the OU, regional, and global Medtronic levels.

In this role, you will work closely with the Supply Chain Planning Team, GSC FP&A, and OU/Region Finance. Your responsibilities will include supporting financial planning, analysis/modeling, and reporting. Additionally, you will be responsible for educating stakeholders on the financial drivers of inventory and scrap, providing financial visibility to influence decision-making, and driving business results. You will report to a GSC Finance Senior Manager.

Team is working hybrid and position will be onsite 2-3 days/week in Fridley, MN.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities to support quarterly forecasts and annual planning (AOP) for Inventory. 
  • Complete monthly financial reporting, analyzing results, identifying issues, and explaining trends and variances to plan and forecast; providing insights to business partners and other stakeholders that helps draw connections between demand / supply planning, inventory, reserves and SOGL to drive action and business results.
  • Actively engages with business partners to understand financial drivers and achieve key Supply Chain metrics.
  • Provide Operating Unit support for DC, Field, and Mfg Site inventory reporting and forecasting.
  • Support various strategic Supply Chain initiatives through financial modeling, adhoc analysis, reporting, and project management efforts to influence decision making and drive business results.
  • Partnering with the Analytics and Insights team on inventory and SOGL dashboard development and/or optimization.
  • Bring a mindset of continuous improvement to all aspects of the job, including recurring processes and stand-alone projects.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills 

Nice to Have

  • Experience in public accounting, preferably with a Big 4 firm, or equivalent experience in accounting principles, risk, and controls.
  • Proficiency with financial systems such as SAP, Essbase/Hyperion, and/or OneStream.
  • Skilled in Microsoft tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI.
  • Experience in operations and/or manufacturing sites
  • Capability to effectively and efficiently utilize systems and data to provide insightful analysis and implement recommendations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple and conflicting deadlines and priorities.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal manager oversight.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, including translating financial data into concise information for management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
  • Drive for continuous improvement including the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes
