Job Duties: This position performs highly confidential and complex paralegal and administrative work. Work involves serving as private secretary to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Generally, performs independently, receiving instructional directions on unusual tasks; requires use of discretion and accuracy of judgment in work decisions. Incumbent serves at the discretion of the Chief Justice.

- Serve as private secretary to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Performs elementary legal research regarding opinions issued by the Court, including verification of citations and preparation of extracts and summaries.
- Assists with the senior judge program and members of the senior judges for assignments to district court cases.
- Prepares orders of the Court, opinions, letters, and other legal dictation and correspondence. from dictation or notes. Independently prepares correspondence relative to administrative work of the Chief Justice. Prepares orders, directives, and rules independently based upon minutes made of actions and proceedings.
- Assists the Chief Justice in setting general and summary dockets and written assignment of cases to the justices.
- Assists the Chief Justice in obtaining the services of retired justices and judges to hear cases as necessary.
- Assists the Chief Justice in the preparation of the annual state of the judiciary message and in the preparation for annual judicial conferences, speeches, meetings of the national conference of chief justices, meetings of bench and bar associations, judicial reports, and educational seminars for judges and court employees.
- Processes rules of the Court, agendas for Court conferences on cases in hearing.
- Records the minutes of conferences; maintains files.
- Prepare agenda for executive sessions of the Supreme Court.
- Assist in the preparation of uncontested disciplinary cases for general dockets
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A thorough, working knowledge of legal terminology and functions performed in a law office gained through courses in paralegal training or work experience.
