Job Description
Under limited supervision, manages, plans, and directs all database activity for the Division of Community Psychiatry. Serves as the primary point of contact for all database activities relating to the Division of Community Psychiatry. Conducts assessments and analyses of program activities and utilization of services and develops mechanisms to report this data to various persons both inside and outside the division. Responsible for maintaining data integrity, security and confidentiality for the division.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
1. Directs, evaluates and organizes all database activities within the Division of Community Psychiatry.
2. Oversees and manages the data development function from which statistics are generated for use by the Program Directors, QI Committee and other research-based entities. Performs data extracts for reporting service utilization and specific demographic data to outside agencies as per grant reporting requirements.
3. Provides support to program directors and their administrators to discuss and solve data problems, identify needs and modify routines to ensure consistent and cohesive data management.
4. Co-author of the Division and Clinical Quality of Improvement Quarterly Reports, for which statistics are generated and graphical representation, is developed.
5. Participates in chart reviews for medical record compliance for outpatient clinics. This includes compliance for COMAR regulations and The Joint Commission standards.
6. Participates in general research projects within the Department of Psychiatry by providing requested data.
7. Manages the day-to-day activities of support staff to include distributing work assignments, reviewing completed work, training new staff and providing on-going feedback to staff regarding performance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Programming, Statistics or related field is required.
- Two years progressively responsible professional experience working with databases including Lotus 123, IDX.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of database software, Lotus 123, IDX.
- General knowledge of word-processing, SPSS, Paradox, ACCESS.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in supervising, monitoring, evaluating, training and motivating the performance of subordinate technical, professional, and clerical support staff.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to work with all levels of healthcare staff.
